Le Pain Quotidian

If you need a place for a quick and tasty bite, how about Le Pain Quotidian? There several locations in the city.  Why is this a green option?

  1. They have vegan choices (the vegan options are labeled with a cute little carrot). Yay! And a lot of the non-vegan items are organic.

2.The menu is printed on recycled paper!

3. Look at how yummy this food is.

I recommend the organic blueberry muffin, any of the vegan salads, the avo toast, and the hummus tartine.

4.The chain is committed to sustainability.

Their website says that they are “Switching to LED lights and using more efficient refrigeration, cooking and cooling mechanisms.” The company has also helped fund a carbon-offset program in Uganda, where people are provided with energy efficient stoves.

Yes, Le Pain Quotidian is a little bit more expensive than some other fast casual options ($10-$20 for lunch), but the commitment to sustainability is worth a few extra dollars.
