On Wednesday, Rahm Emanuel joined other U.S. cities in announcing support of the Paris Agreement. WOOO THIS IS GOOD. He signed an Executive Order committing to reducing Chicago’s GHG (that’s greenhouse gasses- the gasses that trap heat in the atmosphere) to less than 2005 levels.
Emanuel also said we’ve already reduced our CO2 emissions by 7% since 2010. That’s nice. Let’s keep it up!
What can you do today to help?
- Take public transportation to work instead of driving
- Eat a plant-based meal (so much better for the environment than eating my animal friends!!!!)
- RECYCLE YOUR GOSH DARN STARBUCKS CUPS BUT DON’T PUT PLASTIC BAGS IN CHICAGO’S RECYCLING BINS BECAUSE WE DON’T RECYCLE THOSE HERE AND YOU’LL JUST BACK UP THE SYSTEM.
- Call your congresspeople. We have some good ones here, but reminding them that their constituents care about the planet is a good idea. Click here to find their phone numbers.
